Oireachtas Joint Committee on Justice and Equality - Citizenship and the DeSouza case
The Joint Committee on Justice and Equality held a meeting to discuss the implications of the ruling against us for citizenship rights in Northern Ireland.
I was joined by Professor Colin Harvey. Professor of Human Rights Law in the School of Law, Queen’s University Belfast, a Fellow of the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, and an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Irish Studies.
Alongside Una Boyd, immigration project coordinator, from the Committee on the administration of Justice, an independent non-governmental organisation (NGO) and is a full member of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).
On closing, Chair of the Committee Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin put forward suggestions on how the Committee can lend practical support for our case.
